    Top design trends for 2020

We’re well into January and our homes deserve the same kind of refresh that we deserve at the start of a new year. Infusing your spaces with the latest trend can be tricky, but in 2020 we’ve got you covered. We’ve put together a list of the home trends we think you should try out for this year to spruce up your home…

    Sustainable Luxury

At Katriona Alice we love working with clients to help maximise natural light and use recycled materials. The explosion of eco-label brands has led to amazing high-quality sustainable products, ensuring our clients have the home of their dreams without feeling bad about their environmental impact.

Top tip: We love Nature Squared for their luxurious sustainable materials. Offering a huge range of products, Nature Squared bring discernment and distinction into their customers interiors with their gorgeous surfaces.

    Return of the Hearth

We love that this is making a comeback - and we’re not just talking about a beautiful mantel; think freestanding fireplaces and wood burners! Hearths offer a stylish function and luxury touch for homeowners: not only are they energy efficient but they offer an elegance to homeowners that want their homes to be a cosy refuge from

    the outside world.

Top tip: Take a look at Chesneys or Charnwood – both suppliers have a stunning collection of fires and fireplaces.

    Weird and Wonderful Hardware

We’re big fans of kooky hardware. From hand painted doorknobs and curtain tiebacks to coat hooks and door knockers this is the perfect way to add character and charm to your home and never fails to make a guest smile. Use them to update your closets and doors.

Top tip: Head to Anthropologie or AndMary for some of our favourite bits of hardware.

    Home-grown Designers

2020 is the time to go local! Support your community by picking your products from local companies and suppliers. Not only are you re-investing in your own community but your choices will create a more unique home with creative pieces from up and coming creatives.

Top tip: Some of our ecletic local faves include Timorous Beasties for fabric and House of Hackney for a bit of everything!

Give your old furniture new life

This year is all about giving an old classic a new lease of life, with some bold chalk-based paint and a few funky handles. With the simple application of colour and accessories you can breathe new life into that long forgotten antique.

Top tip: Take a look at some of our inspiration on Pinterest and don’t forget, always apply a coat of primer and let it dry before applying your paint, without it your paint could chip, peel or bubble.
